I couldn’t decide on which picture to put up, so here’s both.  These were definitely the most fun to make.  And the color is great, too.110409 005These were esy to make, but I made a bad yarn choice on this one.  I also think they would have looked better if I had used a thinner yarn and smaller needles.  I still plan on making two more pair before going on to something else.

110409 007Here’s my new sock kit.  The varigated yarn is sparkly!  OOO!

It was only in the mid-fifties today, but it wasn’t windy.  We walked around the horse farm and then down to the river.  It was so beautiful sitting out on the pier.  And so quiet.  I loved it.  I love living here.

Suddenly, It Feels Like Winter

November 2, 2009 by frivolousfluffy

The damp, chilly air is getting to me and it’s dark by the time I start fixing supper.  Last week there were leaves on the trees.103109 006Now, there’s hardly any leaves left.  I can’t stand it.

I was going to blog every day this month, but I’ve all ready blown that.  I never even gave it a thought yesterday.  I can use the excuse that I was out most of the day, but I didn’t leave until almost 2PM and I was home by 830.  I’m still working on baby socks.  I’ve got three and a half pairs finished.  I also have another sock kit to make.

My Poor Bladder

October 31, 2009 by frivolousfluffy

I went back to the urologist yesterday.  I had no idea it was possible to put all that up a person’s bladder.  I’ve got to go back in a month.  This time I was given a gel to try.  It’s not supposed to have the side effects.  We’ll see.  I hate the ‘try this, try that’ business.

It’s very windy today.  I could have spent the day sitting on my neighbor’s pier out on the river.  It was so beautiful.  Some of the waves were so hard that it felt like someone or something was kicking the pier.

The girls loved chasing the leaves.  They were out all day.103109 003

Thrusday

October 30, 2009 by frivolousfluffy

102409 019It was only in the mid fifties when we went for our walk today.  I guess Autumn is finally here.  Can Winter be far behind?  At least I have plenty of warm socks.  I was looking at my sock yarn this morning, trying to decide which one to use next.  I have also been looking at shawl patterns to use the lace weight  yarn I bought at Knitter’s Nest.  It was hard to drag myself  back to the baby socks.  I finished one sock of the third pair of baby socks.  I finished cutting all the pieces for the small quilt and started sewing.  Can I get any more boring?102809 007

These socks are fun to make.  I had never made toe-up socks before.  I’m still not sure if I’ll make myself a pair.  I like the diagonal line so I may.  Flo wasn’t much help.

I started work on a small wall quilt for Jen for Christmas.  It has finally gotten too cool to be outside.  I didn’t too far.  When I was changing the blade, I sliced my thumb a little.  Luckily, I didn’t get any blood on the fabric.

It’s not cold enough to turn the heat on, so I make lime bars to warm it up a little this afternoon.  This evening, we have a fire going.

Finished Latvian Socks

October 25, 2009 by frivolousfluffy

I love these socks.  Look at the pink and orange.  Isn’t it great?  These are definitely happy socks.  The pattern was easy to follow and I finished them in less than two weeks.  I didn’t have much yarn left.  These are going to a friend so I’ll probably make a pair for myself eventually.102409 010

My daughter asked me to make something for one of her tellers.  She said she had been trying to get pragnent for six years.  This sounded like the perfect chance to make the practice socks in New Pathways for Sock Knitters.  102409 017Here’s my progress so far.   I used Moods from Universal Yarns Inc.  I still have quite a bit left.  Should I make mittens or a hat?

H1N1 Virus

My daughter called earlier.  She, my son-in-law and my grandson are all just getting over it.  So I guess they never made it down to their trailer over the weekend.  She was looking forward to the three day holiday by the water.  My poor babies.
